Children's Martial Arts

We operate fun filled, professional Martial Arts classes for children aged 3-18 years. Our aim is to guide your child through a carefully planned program of Martial Arts whilst building their confidence and character.

Our Classes

We have classes for ages ranging from 3-7 years old (Lil Dragons), 7-11 years old (Junior Team), and 11-16 years old (Teen Squad). We also have a session for our rising adults, 14-18 years, before they join our main adults classes.

These classes are made to be engaging and encourage each student to push themselves in a safe and friendly environment, whilst working on their martial arts, life and safety skills.

Each month we have a different topic that we work towards in each age group, and the students learn about this in their classes as they try to earn a monthly badge. This keeps them engaged and motivated and fosters a love of exercise and movement.

See specific info about our different classes below.

LIL DRAGONS (3-7 years old)

Give your child the perfect start with our fun, high-energy Lil Dragons classes! Our class are all designed to build confidence, respect, and focus, and each session combines exciting martial arts skills with essential life lessons and exercise skills such as core stability, balance and body awareness. Through carefully planned games, teamwork, and parent-child activities, your little one will develop balance, coordination, listening skills, and even learn important safety topics like stranger danger, road safety, and fire safety. With badges to earn every month, as well as a full belt progression programme, there is always something new to learn — keeping children engaged, active, and eager to come back for more. As our classes are drop off sessions, we don’t have parents staying to watch*, we offer a class every month where parents/carers can join their Lil Dragons on the mats to see what we’ve been up to. # All of our instructors are DBS checked, qualified and insured, and hold some sort of background in education first, before being a martial arts coach. We feel this is important at The Factory, as we recognise, children shouldn’t be trained as ‘mini adults’, and so our wealth of experience in child development, special educational needs training, safeguarding and coaching means that we create the very best environment for your child. Classes are only 30 minutes long, so we can keep your child focussed and engaged. Children don’t need to be drilling kicks and punches for hours on end to learn, in fact, that’s detrimental to their enjoyment and their health. So we carefully structure our classes to be fast-paced, fun and full of useful skills and drills. Help your child grow stronger, safer, and more confident — all while having the most fun and staying safe! *Just a note, we don’t allow parents to stay and watch as we feel children build more confidence without parents there. They also benefit from greater focus and improved communication skills.

JUNIOR TEAM (7-11 years old)

Fuel your child’s growth and confidence with our Junior Team Kickboxing classes, designed to go beyond martial arts training and support their development as well-rounded, empowered and confident individuals. Skill Meets Fun Each class is packed with exciting and challenging activities that push young kickboxers to reach their full potential—through dynamic drills, fitness tasks, and character-building games. Holistic Development Our classes are not just about kicks and punches—our classes nurture confidence, respect, and discipline, fostering character alongside physical skills. Progression and Development With badges to earn every month, as well as a full belt progression programme, there is always something new to learn — keeping children engaged, active, and eager to come back for more. As our classes are drop off sessions, we don’t have parents staying to watch*, we offer a class every three months where parents/carers can join their Juniors on the mats to see what we’ve been up to. Aged for Growth Tailored specifically for 7–11-year-olds, every session is age-appropriate and supportive, ideal for children stepping up from younger classes or joining fresh. All of our instructors are DBS checked, qualified and insured, and hold some sort of background in education first, before being a martial arts coach. We feel this is imortant at The Factory, as we recognise, children shouldn’t be trained as ‘mini adults’, and so our wealth of experience in child development, special educational needs training, safeguarding and coaching means that we create the very best environment for your child. Classes are only 45 minutes long, so we can keep your child focussed and engaged. Children don’t need to be drilling kicks and punches for hours on end to learn, in fact, that’s detrimental to their enjoyment and their health. So we carefully structure our classes to be fast-paced, fun and full of useful skills and drills. *Just a note, we don’t allow parents to stay and watch as we feel children build more confidence without parents there. They also benefit from greater focus and improved communication skills.

TEEN SQUAD (11-16 years old)

Help your teen unleash their full potential with our dynamic Teen Squad Kickboxing classes — crafted to build strength, character, and self-belief through exciting, skill‑filled training. Dynamic & Engaging Training Each session is packed with challenging drills and fun martial arts skills to keep teens active, engaged, and progressing toward Black Belt excellence. Building Better Humans More than just striking and fitness — teens gain invaluable life skills like confidence, self-discipline, anti-bullying strategies, and self-defence, all delivered in an empowering, supportive environment. Controlled Sparring and Self Defence Teens learn the art of controlled sparring, designed to test and sharpen their abilities safely and effectively. However, sparring is not the main focus of our club, and we don’t take students to competition level. More importantly, we believe more in ‘real world’ self defence so that students are confident and have the ability to be able to defend themselves out in the streets in our ever challenging world. Goal‑Driven Motivation Monthly challenges to earn badges push your teen to show what they’ve learned and strive for excellence. With a clear belt progression—leading all the way to Black Belt—they stay motivated, focused, and proud of their progress.

Our Coaches

MARTYNA

Assistant Coach

I started kickboxing because it looked fun and highly energetic. After the first session, I knew it was something I wanted to continue with—and it quickly became a core part of my life and something I genuinely love. I was inspired to start coaching by another teen in my class who was part of the (at the time) SWAT team. I saw her helping out with the juniors and thought it looked like something I’d really enjoy. So when applications for the SWAT team opened, I applied, and I’ve loved every second of coaching since. Fun fact: I go to most of the England Football Lionesses matches—I love the experience of seeing new stadiums and soaking up the atmosphere.

NATALIE

Assistant Coach

I started kickboxing because I wanted to exercise again, but it had to be fun and something I’d actually stick to. Looks like that worked! 😉 I was inspired to become a coach during the parental involvement classes with my children. I loved working with them and helping them improve. Fun fact; I have a 1st Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo and used to compete nationally and internationally!

LUCY

Owner & Head Coach

I have trained in kickboxing for nearly 30 years & have been teaching for over 20 years! I wasn’t your typical sporty child, until I found kickboxing. It taught me resilience, as some of the moves & techniques didn’t come naturally to me, so I had to continually try harder. These values are things I promote throughout the club today, as I want all of our students to be their own personal best, and to never give up! I hold a 4th Dan Black Belt, a TAQA award in assessing vocational achievement, a Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development Diploma, an NVQ 3 in Management, a Diploma in Pilates Instruction, an NCFE Level 2 in Personal Exercise and Nutrition, a Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage therapy (Level 4 EQF), an Advanced Sports and Exercise Nutritional Advisor and an Anxiety Coach Qualification with STILL Method Group. My extensive background in Nursery Management and child development coupled with my long martial arts experience, makes our club very different to other kickboxing clubs. We don’t value fighting or competition, but careful and thought out tuition to promote respect, self discipline, safety and above all, fun! Fun fact about me - I was born in London and lived there until I was around 2 years old, before moving to the midlands. I can also play the clarinet.

VIKKI

Club Coach

I began my kickboxing journey after seeing my son enjoying his Little Dragons classes so much. I was always active as a youngster and missed the feeling that exercise gave me. My coaching journey began when Sensei Lucy asked for volunteers to join the SWAT team (now known as junior coaches) to help out in the children’s classes. Watching students grow was extremely rewarding, and becoming a coach felt like the natural next step. Fun fact: At age 14, I achieved the level needed to teach ballet. By 16, I had passed the exams.

KELLY

Club Coach

I started kickboxing after joining a parental involvement class with my daughter. It was loads of fun, so I decided to give it a go myself! I was inspired to become a coach because I really enjoy working with others and helping them progress. Fun Fact: I love musicals!

Jodi K

"My Daughter started at the Factory a few months ago and absolutely loves it. We have tried getting her into something she enjoys over the years but she has never taken to anything. I feel like we have finally found something she really enjoys and that is beneficial to her too."

Tracey S

"Lucy and her team do so much more than kick boxing. emphasis on discipline, listening, anti bullying and more. great all round lessons, can totally recommend"

Emma JD

"My daughter started at 4 years old, and is now 5, and absolutely loves coming to kickboxing every week, she does 2 sessions a week and if it was up to her she would go every day. Lucy the instructor is amazing with them, so patient and frendly. not only do they learn how to defend themselves but she also teachers other things like drug awareness, stranger danger aswell.
